Measuring Stick

Everyone uses a different measuring stick or evaluation process to determine if a job is good.

Three things I use are the where, the what and the who.

  1. The Where - Are you excited about the mission and vision of the organization? Are you excited about where it is going?

  2. The What -  Are you excited about your role in accomplishing that mission? Are you excited about what you are doing?

  3. The Who - Are you excited about the team you are doing it with? Are you excited to partner with your leadership, peers and direct reports?

If you are excited about the where, what and who, you will probably be engaged and energized in that role for years to come.
